  1. Thanks a lot for this valuable book. It is hard to find information on this topic. However, Microsoft Word is not very robust and messes between linear and professional mode conversion, e.g. using \mathsf command in linear, then converting to professional and back to linear replaces \mathsf with \mathrm command. It's a pain. Any suggestion how to make Microsoft Word more robust?

  2. Yes, unfortunately the commands in the equation editor are not always editable once they are displayed. Even '\alpha' can not be edited, once it is displayed.

While, you can save the document with the \mathsf command and have the correct display, trying to edit it twice will cause the problem.

There are free macros online for latex to word insertion, which might work for specific tasks.

  3. Thanks for the clarification. Microsoft's half baked solution does not really help to make Word popular among scientific writers. Too bad, in my opinion.

Can you recommend a particular macro for Latex insertion?
